A hybrid piece. The body is wheel-thrown by hand from white clay sourced from the Iberian Peninsula, shaped into a precise cylinder. The three feet are built separately, rolled by hand from a slab of clay and joined to the body. The result is a vessel that lifts away from its surface, suspended on its own structure.

Once joined, the piece rests for three full days, sheltered from any draft. The slow drying is essential. It prevents micro-fissures at the points where the feet meet the body.

Then the firing begins. A blue engobe is applied first, colouring the clay at depth. A transparent enamel is fired over it, bringing shine and vitrified protection. Finally, cobalt oxide is layered on for the third firing. The cobalt produces the soft Moroccan blue and the dense network of fine crackles that gather across the upper half. The colour shifts from a clouded turquoise at the top into a calmer pale blue toward the base. The matte feet hold a quieter version of the same tone.

A long passage between earth, water, and fire. Each one ends differently.

Rooted in a ceramic tradition that has shaped Morocco for centuries. Reinterpreted for the contemporary interior. No painted motifs. No repetition. Each surface is one of one.

Made by a ceramist in Salé who came to the craft through his father’s connection to the old Oulja pottery market. A place that no longer exists.

White clay, blue engobe, transparent enamel, cobalt oxide. 18cm H x 19cm W. No two pieces carry the same pattern.

Decorative object. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth. Keep away from prolonged moisture, direct sunlight, and extreme temperature changes. Not suitable for food, liquids, microwave, or dishwasher.
